Leaving the Village

I have a friend that has recently left to join the Katrina relief crews in New Orleans. He's left his family - a beautiful new baby boy(only a couple months old), an awesome foul-mouthed daughter he adores (she's 2), and a witch of a wife. Why would he leave for this forsaken place? Adventure, Money - ironically the same reasons young women become exotic dancers. :)

There just aren't enough opportunities for young naked men in Southeastern US.

My heart and thoughts go with you. May you bring your family honor with your sacrifice.

Leaving the Village

step
step
footfalls south
hands like gravel
missing pieces

abandoned
or forgotten
whats best
right
for love
or freedom
of thought

little tears
miss arms
goodnight to the brave.
